Offering Kurash at your Club
Kurash is a combat SPORT in the way that baseball and basketball are sports. It is not a martial ART like judo, kendo or Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. This is what we think makes it particularly attractive. You do not need a professor or sensei to do it. If you wish to do it or offer it at your club, you can do so immediately. Kurash Canada exists to provide a medium to keep Canadian Kurash up to international standards through optional gradings and through an annual national open championships. It absolutely does not exist to limit its appeal through restricting its practice to only approved academies. We think Kurash is an excellent addition to any martial arts or combat sport programme, particulary if this kind of fighting is not yet offered. For example, Karate or other striking arts could benefit from Kurash, since it deals with throws, and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu could benefit from it for the same reason. As stated earlier, the nice thing is that you do not need any grade-level in Kurash to offer the sport at your training facility. You just have to DO IT. :)
If you do wish to start offering Kurash at your academy, please let us know so we can add you to our list of member clubs. You must also know that Kurash Canada accepts no liability for anything you do with the sport of Kurash. We are here to facilitate the understanding of the sport, and to promote it through our own tournaments and the bestowing of championship titles upon victors. Everything you do is at your OWN RISK. The chances of injury and death are ever present with all sports, and in some ways especially so with combat sports, and Kurash is no exception. |
