Canadian Kurash Grading Requirements
Techniques must be demonstrated both right and left sided. All techniques from prior grades will be tested also.
Grades can be acquired through correspondence by sending a video of techniques-demonstration and of fighting with a partner according to correct Kurash rules. Tournament participation can be waived in cases of remote location.

Beginner
Upon becoming a member of Kurash Canada, one is automatically placed in the Beginner category. This is the starting point. Members receive pass books which record the member's tournament participation and gradings.
Learning how to fall and roll safely are the first things to be learnt.
Novice
A) Participate in at least 1 tournament
B) Demonstrate proficiency at the following techniques:
- Outer leg recoil
- Front ankle sweep
- Side ankle sweep
- Inner heel sweep
- Front tripping
Intermediate
A) Participate in at least 2 additional tournaments
B) Demonstrate proficiency at the following techniques:
- Outer sickle throw
- Inner sickle throw
- Outer hip reaping
- Inner thigh reaping
- Carrying cross-back throw
Advanced
A) Participate in at least 3 additional tournaments
B) Demonstrate proficiency at the following techniques:
- Sleeves grip carrying cross-back throw
- Cross-shoulder throw
- Cross-hip throw
- Backward cross-chest winding throw
- Inner shin entwine throw
Instructor
A) Participate in at least 4 additional tournaments
B) Demonstrate proficiency at all techniques in prior grade levels
C) Demonstrate:
- 5 additional throwing techniques of own choice not contained in prior grade levels
- 5 two-step combination attacks of own choice
- 5 counter-throw reversals (i.e. partner attacks with a throw, and you counter with a throw) of own choice
D) Perform and explain the meanings of all refereeing hand signals.
The Instructor grade is also qualification for refereeing.
Instructors can promote their own students up to and including the Advanced grade.
